GameBuddies.io Is Now an Official Twitch Category

We're Official on Twitch
GameBuddies.io is now a recognized game category on Twitch. That means anyone going live can pick GameBuddies.io as their game, and the stream will show up on our dedicated live page — with an Official badge — right next to everyone else playing with friends in real time.

Meet the Now Playing Page
We built a page that shows every live GameBuddies.io stream, refreshing automatically every two minutes: gamebuddies.io/now-playing.
Before today, the page found streams by scanning channel titles and descriptions for GameBuddies-related keywords. It worked, but it was fuzzy — false positives slipped in and legitimate streams slipped out.
Now the page pulls from two sources at the same time:
- The official GameBuddies.io Twitch category — the clean source of truth. Streams here get a cyan "Official" badge and always sort to the top of the grid.
- The legacy keyword search — a safety net for streamers who haven't switched their category yet, so nobody gets left off during the transition.
Both run in parallel, get merged, and are deduplicated. You see every live game in one place, with the officially-tagged streams always first.
Why This Matters
An official Twitch category is more than a cosmetic win. It means:
- Discoverability. Viewers browsing Twitch's party, indie, and arcade directories can find GameBuddies streams without ever knowing our name.
- Legitimacy. Cover art, screenshots, and descriptions come from our IGDB listing — we're cataloged alongside every other real game on the platform.
- Community. One shared category creates a home base for streamers who play our games regularly. Over time, it becomes the place to go when you want to watch people laugh their way through Last Brain Standing or Canvas Chaos.
How to Stream Under the Official Category
If you're going live:
- Open your streaming software — OBS, Streamlabs, or Twitch Studio.
- In the stream info panel, search for GameBuddies.io under "Category" or "Game".
- Pick it, hit go live, and you're done.
Within a minute or two, your stream will appear at the top of our Now Playing page with the Official badge next to your game name. If you're already streaming one of our games under a different category, just switch — no need to restart your stream.
