Two New Games Just Landed
We just shipped two brand-new multiplayer games on GameBuddies.io — Decoded and Bluffalo. Both are free, browser-based, and take about ten seconds to start: pick a game, share a room code, go. No downloads, no accounts, no installs. If you can open a link, you can play.
They're wildly different in feel — one is a wordless emoji puzzle, the other is a trivia lie-fest — but they share the same DNA as every game on the platform: bring friends, laugh, repeat.
Decoded — Emoji Charades, Without a Single Word
Decoded is a party game where one player — the Describer — picks up to five emojis to hint at a secret word, and everyone else races to guess it. No drawing. No speaking. No typing the word in disguise. Just pure 🏄 🌊 → "surfboard". Or is it "beach"? Or "wave"? That's the game.
It ships with two modes:
- Team Race. A host referees, two teams compete, and whoever guesses faster scores the round.
- Free-for-All. The Describer role rotates each round and every player competes as an individual — great for casual groups where nobody wants to sit still.
The word database is 1,700+ entries strong across five languages and seven categories: food, movies, places, actions, objects, people, and — for the very specific among you — League of Legends champions. Rounds are tight (30 seconds to pick emojis, 45 seconds to guess), scoring rewards the top three guessers plus the Describer, and the whole game runs right in the browser with optional built-in video chat.
The best thing about Decoded is that it breaks the language barrier. Emojis are universal but beautifully ambiguous, and the gap between what you meant and what your friends see is where all the laughs live.
Bluffalo — Write the Best Lie, Spot the Real Truth
Bluffalo is a trivia deception game in the Fibbage tradition. Every round, you see a real trivia question — the kind of obscure fact nobody actually knows — and instead of guessing the answer, you write a fake one that sounds believable. All the player-written lies get shuffled together with the real answer, and everyone votes on which one they think is true.
Scoring works two ways: you get points for spotting the real answer, and bonus points every time another player falls for your lie. So the magic isn't writing a funny answer — it's writing a convincing one.
Under the hood:
- 3 to 12 players, scaling beautifully with group size — more players means more lies to pick from, and more people to trick with yours.
- Seven categories: history, science, geography, entertainment, sports, food & drink, and a weird facts bucket for the genuinely chaotic rounds.
- 10 rounds per game, with configurable timers for both the lying phase and the voting phase.
- Built-in video chat so you can watch people's faces when the real answer drops and they realize they voted for your nonsense.
You don't need to be clever. You don't need to be funny. You just need to be convincing enough that the smartest person in the room second-guesses themselves. That's the whole game.
